Salam and hello, my name is Basmah! I'm a Palestinian-Lebanese Muslim girl from Texas, and currently studying architectural engineering. I love drawing and for a long time I've wanted to use this hobby to really express myself and my identity.
Growing up, Baba made sure that my brother and I understood what being Palestinian meant, including everything from educating us about the occupation to enjoying a good piece of kanafeh (which once, in his ambitious attempt to make it from scratch and cook it on the grill, resulted in the shattering of the precious Pyrex tray). Because of this, I've always been passionate about the liberation of Palestine, and my time at university has given me the opportunity to be more involved. Alhamdulilah, I now have the encouragement and resources to start to use my artwork as a way to raise awareness and money for Palestine.
